RULES
The time zone for this event is Eastern Standard Time (EST), GMT minus five (-5). Here is a converter for your ease of use.
No bullying or harassment will be tolerated. Violation of this will result in removal from the event.
There is zero tolerance for intentional sexism, homophobia, transphobia, racism, ableism, or any other forms of bigotry among participants. These offenses are grounds for removal from the event and Discord server.
This event is open to minors 14 years and older, but minors may not create or claim mature (18+) art. All art or fics created for the event by minors may not have an AO3 rating of M or E.
All communication will be sent through Discord and email. Announcements will be given through Discord, matches will be sent through email.
Communication is important! If you need help, the mods are here for you. Please stay in contact with your teammate(s).

No ship bashing or kink bashing of any kind will be allowed.
Your content can be posted to your various social media on your posting date (Twitter, Tumblr, Dreamwidth, Instagram, etc.).
All works must be posted to the SHL Reverse Big Bang 2022 AO3 Collection. The work must stay online for at least one calendar year. (See details below)
ARTIST RULES
Artists must create a minimum of one fully rendered piece of work.
Artists may submit up to 3 pieces of art. For each additional art submitted, the one prior must be complete. (i.e., if you submit two, the first must be finished. If you submit 3, two must be finished.) All artwork drafts submitted for claims must be complete enough to convey the story idea. All WIPs submitted during claims should be in a state that the artist would be OK with posting “as-is”.
A summary is required for your artwork for writers to review. Include possible squicks, triggers, “do not wants” (DNW), and other items to assist your writer.
In the spirit of anonymity, art drafts cannot be posted before pairings have been made.
Once you have been paired with an author, there is no limit to the amount of artworks you can make for each story, but no additional artworks are required.
Crossovers are permitted as long as the main characters are from Shan He Ling, Qi Ye, Tian Ya Ke.
We encourage artists to submit their works to the AO3 collection, either as a separate post or embedded within the accompanying fic.
Please do not create any art that depicts sexually explicit underage content.
AUTHOR RULES
Fics must be complete, beta read, and edited by your posting date. There is a suggested minimum word count of 15,000. The final word count is flexible so long as you can produce a finished story.
Fics must be posted on your posting date in their entirety.
All fics must be beta-read. (Beta services are available through the Discord server if you don’t have your own.)
Fics cannot be posted before your posting date.
You can sign up to write more than one story and work with more than one artist but be aware of your time and commitment constraints.
Authors will have several days to look over the art submissions before submitting their bids during claims.
We encourage artists to embed their works in the fic
Please tag your fics appropriately.
We ask that you do not create explicit underage content.

BETA RULES
Minors cannot beta for mature stories.
Make sure to review expectations with your author. Do they only want spellcheck? Continuity check? Character tweaking? Something else?
There is no limit on the number of fics you can beta for as long as you are able to meet your commitments.
FAQ
What is a reverse bang? In a reverse bang, the art comes first. Artists submit original artworks to be anonymously claimed by authors, who will then write a short story inspired by the work.
Do photo manipulations count as artwork? Yes. However, it must be something more than a photograph with fancy filters on top of it. Any photos used must be transformed into a completely original image.
How do art submissions work? The mods will provide you with a link to upload your images. All traditional artworks must be photographed and/or scanned to provide an uploadable image.
How do claims work? On the designated claim date, all authors may put in a bid on the 5 artworks they would most like to work with, ranked 1-5. All claims are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so it is wise to submit your bids as soon as you can. Once 24 hours have passed, if there are any remaining artworks that have not been claimed, the second round of claims will begin. The gallery will be updated for the second round to show any remaining available art. If you are notified that all 5 of your choices have already been claimed, you will be allowed to submit a second form before the second round begins. The claims process is anonymous and the matches will be revealed after all pieces of art have been claimed.
How do I find a beta reader? If you do not have a beta reader that you already work with, the mods will help you find one from our beta pool. There will be a separate beta sign-up sheet where we can keep track of anyone willing and able to proofread your works.
What if I can’t make the suggested word count? That is fine! What we really want are finished works. If you have a complete story, consider it a success even if it falls short of the WC. We set the word count higher for this event to encourage writers to dive into the prompts they receive from the claimed artworks and explore all the possibilities the stories may hold. However, if you can write a fully fleshed-out story in 6k words or less, you are not required to write more.
What if I need an extension? We ask that you do your best to submit your stories by the deadlines given. However, we all understand that life happens and will allow extensions for any unforeseen circumstances. Please contact a moderator if you need to arrange an extension. If you know ahead of time that it is unlikely you will be able to finish a story, we ask that you kindly refrain from claiming artworks.
What if my writer has to drop out or disappears? If your writer is not able to complete their fic, your artwork will be made available for our pinch hitters to claim. Pinch hits have a suggested word count of 3-5k. The moderators will work with the team to provide an extension if needed.
What should I do if I have a problem with my collaborator(s)? If you are unable to resolve a conflict with your artist/writer/beta, please contact a moderator for assistance.
I am being harassed on the discord server. What should I do? Contact a mod, either by direct DM on discord, or via email. We will do our best to resolve any issues in a quick and efficient manner.
What is the policy for breaking the discord rules of civility? We will not tolerate any forms of abuse. We will implement a 3 strikes rule to any folks who cannot play nice with others. After the 3rd warning, the person will be banned from the event. In severe cases of abuse or harassment, the offender will be removed immediately and banned from participating now, and in the future.
